So I was hanging out at my buddies' house watching Geostorm. If you are unaware of what movie I am referring to, feel free to refer to my movie blog for further information.
Geostorm stars Gerard Butler as a scientist who is trying to save the world. So the middle girl of my friends' their twelve-year-old is intently watching the movie. At one time she sits up a little straighter and asks, "Who is that?"
Gerard Butler's face happened to be the most prominent on the screen at that moment.
I respond, "That's Gerard Butler."
"What's he been in?" She asks.
"Lots of things." I reply and my mind starts to race as I try to imagine what she could have seen him in considering that quite a few of his well known films are rated R. Without missing a beat, her father, who is also watching the movie, pipes up. "He's in The Phantom of the Opera. He's the Phantom."
"Oh." She responds.
At that moment I feel a little silly for not suggesting The Phantom of the Opera because I've known her and her siblings for a long time. When this girl was younger she was very enthralled with the film The Phantom of the Opera. She loved it and watched it so much that she used to sing along with it and she knows the songs very well (she'll tell anyone that asks that she knows them by heart but anyway).
I then asked her. "How did you recognize him?"
She promptly responded, "His eyes and his mouth."
"Does he look like the Phantom?" I prompted.
She shrugged and said, "If he shaved his beard, put on the mask and slicked his hair back he would."
I internally chuckled but outwardly smiled with amusement. Then I asked. "If you ever met him would you ask him to sing?"
She nodded her head matter-of-factly and said "Yes."
I said. "What song would you ask him to sing?"
She paused as she thought so I figured I would help her out by asking her, "What is your favorite song from the movie?"
"All of them." She replied in her matter-of-fact tone.
We resumed watching the movie in mostly quiet.
